Monday Motivation - November 4th

Welcome to this week's Monday Motivation.  I know the end of the year is coming quick, and this is the time when we rush to get our work completed before the moratoriums start and we all start to disappear for the holidays.  Remember to focus on organization for both your personal and professional lives. It's easy to get overwhelmed and distracted this time of year, speaking from experience. Here are a couple of things I wanted to remind my circles team about this week: 

  • People of DIRECTV: There is a pretty cool summit coming up on November 21st. The first annual "People of DIRECTV" summit will be held. If you are interested in growing your personal brand within the company I recommend attending this either in person or virtually. Registration has been extended through November 8th.  Click HERE for more information.
  • Open enrollment started this week. Make sure you take some time to renew your benefits for next year. For the link to start the process click HERE.
  • I have been trying to get a guest for next week's meeting, but unfortunately the red tape is stronger that I was expecting. Looks like it will just be us. Let's check everyone's progress next week.  
  • And finally, tomorrow is Election day. Please make sure you vote.  Here is my message from last week on voting.  Click HERE.

Welcome to Spring! Showers, showers everywhere with tornados and some lightning to boot! I am on perpetual "Weather Watch" this week in an effort to be ready to roll if the lights go out on any of our midwest LRF locations. What a crazy week for weather! Mother nature is in full swing. So, what do you for DIRECTV anyway?

  Over the last seven years or so the most common question I get as I travel around this great country of ours is “What do you do for DIRECTV anyway?” For those interested, this week’s column is dedicated to my “Day Job”. Enjoy… Greetings from St. Louis! It's Sunday morning and my Battlehawks won a nail biter last night against the Arlington Renegades.  It was an amazing game and I was one of the 40,315 in attendance. Life is good.  Here is this weeks update. I decided to take a week to dedicate a column to my Field Engineering team. I am sure the optics might lead one to believe that I travel around the country staying in hotels, meeting with the hotel and bar staff and promoting DIRECTV. That is maybe 5-10% of my week though.  I am part of a team of 11 Field Engineers who are strategically placed throughout the country to support local channel contributions to DIRECTV in all continental US markets.  We are 100% travel allocated engineers, so we are on the r...

  Today marks the one year anniversary of my first column on Blogspot. It's a special day for me because When I started this blog I had no idea it would take off the way it did, or that I would still be posting today. Unfortunately, this is also the last weekly blog post I will be submitting to Blogspot. Before I explain why I am sunsetting the blog, let's go back and look at the evolution of how the blog came to be. HOW IT ALL STARTED I am a career traveler for DIRECTV . 48 weeks a year, 3-4 nights a week. I was traveling before the Covid-19 pandemic, I traveled through the pandemic, and in early 2022 as America was "Re-opening" I noticed that most of the hotel, restaurant and Bar staff that I had come to know pre-pandemic were no longer employed at my favorite establishments.
