2023 NFL Season - Week 3

Week three of the NFL season finds me in Cape Girardeau, Missouri enjoying #TNFonDIRECTV at the Courtyard by Marriott, which also happens to be the Official Hotel of the NFL. this is a hotel I frequent 3-4 times a year and the hotel ownership also owns the Top of the Marq Restaurant across the street. If you are ever in the Cape, you MUST (I repeat MUST...) visit the Marq and shake hands with Matt the Executive Chef, and enjoy some of the best food in the midwest!

When I checked into the hotel I touched bases with the hotel manager and helped them coordinate a Happy hour special for thursday night so their hotel guests could enjoy #TNFonDIRECTV from the hotel. 

It was an OK night for the hotel.  Not good, but not bad at all.  I lit the fuse though.  The hotel knows that if they proactively market their DBS services at the hotel when guests check in, they will most likely end their night at the Courtyard's hotel and bar.  It's about the revenue that increases the value of the hotel as well as the value that DIRECTV offers the hotel.

Welcome to Spring! Showers, showers everywhere with tornados and some lightning to boot! So, what do you for DIRECTV anyway?

  Over the last seven years or so the most common question I get as I travel around this great country of ours is “What do you do for DIRECTV anyway?” For those interested, this week’s column is dedicated to my “Day Job”. Enjoy… Greetings from St. Louis! It's Sunday morning and my Battlehawks won a nail biter last night against the Arlington Renegades.  It was an amazing game and I was one of the 40,315 in attendance. Life is good.  Here is this weeks update. I decided to take a week to dedicate a column to my Field Engineering team. I am sure the optics might lead one to believe that I travel around the country staying in hotels, meeting with the hotel and bar staff and promoting DIRECTV.   Today marks the one year anniversary of my first column on Blogspot. It's a special day for me because When I started this blog I had no idea it would take off the way it did, or that I would still be posting today. Unfortunately, this is also the last weekly blog post I will be submitting to Blogspot. Before I explain why I am sunsetting the blog, let's go back and look at the evolution of how the blog came to be. HOW IT ALL STARTED I am a career traveler for DIRECTV . 48 weeks a year, 3-4 nights a week. I was traveling before the Covid-19 pandemic, I traveled through the pandemic, and in early 2022 as America was "Re-opening" I noticed that most of the hotel, restaurant and Bar staff that I had come to know pre-pandemic were no longer employed at my favorite establishments.
